Alaska Airlines will end its nonstop service between Los Angeles and Vancouver, effective June 4, according to airlineroute.net. Just one less choice when flying to Vancouver for Alaska cruises or to Los Angeles to cruise the Mexican Riviera.

The airline launched the route in 1996 with two daily flights and in the mid-2000s operated as many as six flights per day between LAX and YVR.

“We had a more attractive opportunity to reallocate the capacity to other flying and feel we can serve our customers who travel between Los Angeles and Vancouver well through our partnership with American Airlines,” Alaska spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said.

American flies the route twice daily.

Air Canada, American, Delta, United and WestJet will continue flying the route after Alaska ceases the service.

Swiss cruise line MSC is saying to the Caribbean “Here we come!”

A few days ago MSC Cruises opened sales for its newest ship, the Seaside, which as of 2017 will be based year-round in Florida.

You know the cruise line is serious about staying and sailing out of Florida when it adds a new year-round ship, buys a private Island in the Bahamas and has the Divina there for the winter. That indicates it’s more than “we are just testing the waters.”

MSC is there to stay.

This winter’s offerings include a great deal for kids when sharing a stateroom with their parents. Until April sailings, kids 11 and under are free and after that kids 12 and under sail free on select sailings.

Choose your stateroom number and your inclusive experience (Bella, Fantastica, Aurea or MSC Yacht Club) at msccruises.com.

Oh, joy.

Cruise Critic is reporting the following:

“Eight months after launching for-fee room service as a test on three of its ships, Carnival Cruise Line is rolling the menu out to its entire fleet, beginning this week. The menu — which still features free cold sandwiches, salads, desserts, drinks and breakfast selections — charges anywhere from $1.50 to $6 for

items that include shrimp, quesadillas, chicken wings and tenders, cheesesteaks, pizza and sides of fries.

“In April, the line introduced the menu on Carnival Imagination, Carnival Conquest and Carnival Pride, saying it would use passenger feedback to determine whether the up-charge offerings would be implemented fleet-wide.”

Hey guess what? Passengers like to pay more…I am wearing out my pockets dipping in for more money.

From the same school of thought, WestJet is charging for checked baggage and advance seat selection in the exit row on economy fares to Europe and sun destinations for bookings made since November 3 for travel on or after tomorrow. Bookings made before November 3 are not affected.

First-bag fees will now apply to passengers travelling to Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Europe, as well as on domestic and trans-border routes. Clients who buy a WestJet Vacations package or make a group booking to Mexico, Caribbean, Central America or Europe will continue to be able to check a first bag at no charge.

You can also check a first bag at no charge if you are travelling on a Flex or Plus fare (one free checked bag for Flex, two for Plus); are either a Silver or Gold Rewards member and are WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard primary cardholders and with up to eight additional guests on the same reservation.

Geez, by the time I figure out all the ifs and buts, the plane will have left.

And so have I. See you tomorrow.

All for now.
